Game shutdown

I've just logged back in after a couple of months offline and have seen the mail sent out about the game permanently shutting down due to the owners no longer wanting to support the site.
Does anyone know why this is?

My guess is that the amount of people making money from the website via the MP (i.e., selling items for real world currency and not trading in-game items and/or currency) is becoming much too high and is a huge breach of the terms of service of the game. This is pretty much all I've seen on the MP over the last year. As well as account theft and harassment being wide-spread on the client since its release last year

But I'm not sure if this is the actual case so I hope someone out there knows why the game is shutting down and if this extends to the client?
So in other words, after October 24th there will be no option to play OurWorld period (not even through the client)?

Im not sure what they meant by bad actors.

Bxnnys, I'm thinking that they meant hackers when they said bad actors; just because the word "hack" and "hacker" are filtered in the chat. Not completely sure though, just a thought!

Wait so will our accounts still be here in case they do return, since they said to watch the URL when they come with a new version maybe ?

Doubtful. The original code for ourWorld was written way back around 2007-2008, probably earlier than that. The game was also initially written to utilize Flash plugins on web browsers, however once Flash support officially ceased January 1, 2021, that can no longer be done, hence the client launch back in October-November 2020, in preparation for the removal of Flash, as the client operates on Adobe AIR, iirc.

If Flowplay were to revisit ourWorld in a new way, they'd most likely either take ourWorld as it is today and rework all of their ancient code, or make a new game from scratch, which would probably be the easier option. I don't know, I don't write code.
The wording feels to me that if they were to revisit ourWorld, it would be in a new game, which would mean pre-existing accounts from ourWorld will most likely not exist.

Oh no. I just saw this. I had to take a break from OW because of some health isssues and now I see that the game has shut down. Goddamn it.
I couldn't take any prints nor spend my gems... I'm really sad. It shut down really fast, only 4 days after they announced the game was closing? /:
It's all really unfortunate. I knew the game wasn't going to last long, but honestly I just think everything happened really really fast. Is there another way to log in? Just to take some print screens and leave?

Also, oof, RIP all my gems. I was saving them just in case they added more items in the shop. I had about... 3 or 4k? Ouch /:

No. ourWorld is completely offline, meaning there's no way to access ourWorld anymore.

Welp. Ok then. I don't know what to write tbh, I'm sad and kinda frustrated I couldn't even log in one last time. Like a lot of people that still played OW despite the whole downloadable client ordeal, I had a lot of friends there and some great memories of the game - guess that's what made me want to keep playing after so many years (since 2009!). That's life, I guess. After all these years I still couldn't achieve all pieces of the 2016 Dark Mystery Box lol

I seriously doubt they will bring OW back, but if they do I'm gonna have a good time like always, just for the nostalgia.

Happy to've helped! Been helping people since around 2013-2014, and kept at it until the day ourWorld closed. It's been a long journey, but I like to think it was worth it in the end, being able to help people in need.
